How I spent my Tuesday night
I’ve only had two times in my life when I’ve truly been so scared I could hardly function. One, of course, was when I saw the headlights of an oncoming car cross into my lane at the last second. We know how that went (still hate you Jonathon!)
Last night was the other time. M and I had just walked into the bedroom and turned on the light. M was leaping across the bed to fix the fitted sheet on my corner, as it tends to pop off. It was at this time when I heard a voice say something and when I turned to the window I saw an arm with a gun pointed at me. I screamed as two shots were fired.
Two shots from a cap gun.
Once my heart rate went down a few hundred notches, I called the police. An officer and his partner showed up in a few minutes. His partner? Very scary guy! Short, lot of hair, eager to work, and a lot of very sharp teeth … Officer Frank of the K-9 unit was on duty, as was Officer “Todd”, his human partner.
He asked if he could bring Frank out (Todd did I mean) and he was all business (well, both were really!) Frank pulled at his lead and you could tell how excited he was to be working. The went to the back window where the scent was picked up and Frank took Todd directly to a house on the next block and straight to the front door where he sat down to say “right here!” Of course no one would answer the door, but Todd said he’d be coming back today when the parents are home. He said he fully expects denial from the kid, but he said “you don’t get to argue when Frank tracks you to your front door from the scene.”
When they had returned to our driveway and Todd was talking to us, Frank started making happy whiney “pet me” noises. I squatted down to pet him and praise him, at which time he promptly rolled over for a tummy rub. Thankfully Todd didn’t do the same. Todd said he had hoped Frank would find someone hiding in the bushes, because they would have got bit.
I sent emails this morning to Officer Todd and the Chief o’ Police praising the actions of last night. While it turned out to be a neighbor kid with a cap gun, it was still something terrifying when it happened. M thought I’d been shot and told the officer he’d never heard a scream like what mine was. I thought the whole thing was handled so well and it made me feel safe knowing that my complaint was taken seriously.
Being bit by Frank would have been a good punishment for the idiot. Not to mention the lasting reminder of what happens when you do really stupid things to people. I’m not sure what action will be taken today against the kid, but I do have one small detail that makes me happy.
M didn’t have clothes on. The kid got a real bright close up view of M’s ass ….ass CRACK that is, hair, hole and all the glory that it is. See, M was mid-leap with the sheet in his hands, diving across the king size bed, to the upper right hand corner against the wall. That is an image that will stay with that kid for a long long time ….
